The perfect getaway if you’re fed up with the crowded beach of Boracay. Cagwait white beach is the next big thing when it comes to getaway places because of its finest setting worthy of a traveler’s money.
Cagwait White Beach is situated in the Municipality of Cagwait, the 4th class municipality of Surigao del Sur, which is about 32 kilometers Southeast of Tandag, the capital town of the province of Surigao del Sur. It faces the coast of the Pacific Ocean in the east and Mount Diwata on the west. It is referred as the Waikiki of the South.
The difference it has among the other beaches is that, Cagwait White Beach is a U-shaped and/or a C-shaped white sand beach woven and interlocked by the symphonic masterpiece of nature of the Philippines’ tropical settings stretching with the aquamarine water, as such creating an alluring beauty to those who will come and see it personally. But base from the word of the mouth of the people living in Cagwait, it is said that the discovery of the spot was a mishap or unexpected only, because the primary intention of coming to the CARAGA was for the wildlife campaign under concessions of the logging industry turned to be the sanctuary of the Philippine Eagle, which is our national bird.
During our stay, excitement filled me in as I’ve heard other tourist, travelers and adventurers compare Cagwait white beach to Boracay, and some even branded it a name as the “Little Boracay of the CARAGA.” Even so, the finery of the sand of Boracay will never be beaten by Cagwait but nonetheless, its Clamshell-like sand of Cagwait resembles a famous beach in Hawaii, the Waikiki beach thus the name, the Waikiki of the South.
After a series of dipping in the water, fooling around, looking around the places and becoming fully acquainted with the area, we ordered our lunch meals which is said to be the “must try foods” in Sand Bar Resort, Cagwait, the Kinilaw and Squid. The foods are spectacularly delicious, you will surely comeback to eat more!
The best thing about this place is the isolation from the commercialized areas which is will give you the chance to enjoy calmness that we can never get in the city directly. Cagwait is perfect for those whose so busy with work or is having too much stress. Additionally one could only imagine how great this spot is during night time as you can clearly see the sky sparkling with millions of starts and the moon glowing so beautiful and reflecting so pretty on the water, but we just didn’t imagined! We actually experience it, and it was a mesmerizing memorable moment.
