Summer is just a few months away, and at this rate, couples, families, or even set of friends that are looking for some summer getaway is starting to prepare where to go to make it an extraordinary experience.
Surigao del Sur, under the Caraga Region, where the nature pride of the Philippines is seated, a group of beautifully breath taking, untouched islands is hidden. The group of this threshold paradise islands is called Britania, which is named after its barangay under the municipality of San Agustin which is blessed with 24 islands and islets scattered all over Lianga Bay, which surfaces the Pacific Ocean.
According to our research before the awaited travel, Britania is an ancient term for Roman Britain, which is a Latin name that is derived from the Greek, which meant “Prettanike” or “Brettaniai” or conceived with the meaning of “a collection of islands with individual names.”
Every island is surrounded by crystal clear waters that are enchanting and mesmerizing with the eyes. As a thought, it’s a paradise hidden among the trashy nature of human, which makes it one of the best spots in Asia according to The Geographic Channel.
Additionally, Boracay will surely have to look out for Britania Islands because it is really to go treat for adventurers, travelers and nature lovers and mainly because it has impeccable white beaches, a definite definition of paradise.
During our visit we stayed at Mac Arthur’s Park located at Britania, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur where they offer pump boat for hire. We rented their pump boat and did a little bit of island hopping. One of the most interesting islands we visited is the Naked Island. True to its name, it is called naked island because there’s nothing to it but literally an island with white sand that is floating on top of the water. We also visited the largest island among them all, which is the Boslon Island. This island holds a statue of Virgin Mary and a cross on the side of the island. Boslon is perfect for photographers because it just radiates beauty in every sense and therefor perfect for those who loves taking pictures and uses it to brag in Facebook, because your friends will surely envy you to see such paradise.
Back in our cottage which is built on top of mangroves, which adds some beauty to the designs of the cottage, we did some snorkeling and scuba diving alongside or along the shore line of the white sand beach. During low tide, visitors, tourist or enthusiast can walk into the nearby two subsidiary islets. The twin rock promontories, both named Panlangagan, which holds a secret cave which was used by Japanese as a burial ground of fallen soldiers during World War II.
Britania Islands or for us, the Threshold Paradise, is a 6-hour ride from Davao City and about 3 hours from Butuan City. Britania Islands can be reached private vehicles or by public utility vehicles plying in the area. Additionally, there’s a tourist center in the Salvacion junction where you can reach when you took the bus to go to Britania.
